Creating RIDE COMMAND Log Files

Upon request from Polaris, log files can assist our internal teams when trying to isolate and address specific in-vehicle display issues.

The steps below apply to obtaining log files from:

  • 2019+ 7-button 7" Displays powered by RIDE COMMAND
  • 2021+ 7S Displays powered by RIDE COMMAND
  • 2022+ 7" ATV Displays powered by RIDE COMMAND

1. Key the display ON and allow the display to power up fully (approx. 16 seconds).

2. Anytime you see display abnormalities/error messages on the display, double tap the time in the upper right-hand corner of the display when the error/abnormality is occurring.

3. Insert a USB flash drive with at least 16GB of free space into the vehicle’s black USB cord, which is located in a dry storage compartment in the vehicle. Note: The USB flash drive must be formatted to exFAT®. For step-by-step instructions on formatting your USB flash drive, please read Formatting a USB to FAT32 or exFAT®.

4. Tap the Polaris Logo button/icon on the display and navigate to: ALL SETTINGS > GENERAL > SYSTEM INFORMATION.

5. Write down and/or take a picture of the Serial Number displayed on this screen.

6. Tap and hold the line that says FIRMWARE VERSION. Two options will appear after about 2-3 seconds: "Engineering Menu" and "Save Log to USB".

7. Tap "Save Log to USB". The log file will begin uploading to the USB flash drive, and a progress percentage will display.

8. Once the upload has reached 100 percent and is complete, pull out the USB flash drive from the black USB cord in the vehicle.

9. Insert the USB flash drive into a USB drive in a computer and save the "syslog" file downloaded from the display. DO NOT change the name of the file. If you are working with a customer service representative, please be sure to provide the Serial Number that you recorded earlier in the email before you send the log file and requested information to the customer service representative you are working with. Note: To get visibility of your in-vehicle display’s Serial Number, please see step #4 above.
