Driving with passengers or cargo and therefore an increased payload requires extra precautions to be taken when operating your commercial vehicle. Payload includes all passengers, accessories and cargo in the vehicle.
Definitions
Towing Capacity: The maximum amount that the vehicle can tow, and it is measured by the actual weight of the trailer and anything in it.
Hitch Tongue Capacity: The maximum weight that can be applied to the hitch of the vehicle from the trailer tongue. This is a maximum at any point during use; towing a trailer over rough terrain can cause tongue weight to vary greatly.
Payload: Includes the weight of all passengers, cargo and accessories on the vehicle.
Max Cargo Box Load: The maximum weight that can be loaded onto the rear cargo box.
Maximum Weight: The maximum weight that the vehicle can carry. This includes all passengers, cargo and accessories loaded onto the vehicle.
