2020-2021 AXYS INDY Adventure 137 Pre-Ride Inspection

Always wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves when servicing your snowmobile. Before you ride your Polaris INDY Adventure 137, perform the pre-ride inspection as described in your Owner’s Manual

Warning: Read, understand and follow all of the instructions, warnings and safety precautions in the Owner’s Manual and on all product labels. Failure to follow these instructions, warnings and safety precautions could result in serious injury or death.

When performing your pre-ride inspection, do the following:

1. Visually inspect the vehicle, looking for debris, leaks and worn components that may impair the vehicle’s operation.

2. Remove each front side panel by releasing the rubber strap and turning the quarter-turn latches. Pull the panels out and lift up to remove.

3. Starting on the left side of the sled, inspect the injection oil level in the oil tank and add oil as needed.

4. Then inspect the condition of the drive belt, looking for any looseness, fraying, missing cogs, burns, abrasions or damage.

5. Move to the right side of the sled and inspect the coolant level in the overflow bottle. Add coolant as needed. To avoid the risk of burns, do not remove the pressure cap while the engine is hot.

6. Next, inspect the brake pads and rotor for any corrosion, damage or leaks.

7. Reinstall both side panels by aligning the tabs at the bottom and top. Then secure the rubber straps and the quarter-turn latches.

8. Next, clean the area around the chaincase fill plug and remove it with a 6mm Allen socket.

9. Ensure the fluid is level with the bottom of the threads. Add fluid as needed.

10. Reinstall the chaincase fill plug. Torque to 4 ft-lbs (6 Nm).

11. Move to the front suspension and inspect for fastener tightness on the shock assembly, control arms, tie rods and spindle.

12. Then inspect for leaks and damage.

13. Inspect the skis for any damage or wear. Replace if necessary.

14. Lift up the skis and inspect the skags for wear. Worn skags may adversely affect handling, resulting in serious injury or death. See your dealer's studding chart for recommended skags.

15. Next, safely elevate the snowmobile per the Owner’s Manual guidelines to inspect the rear suspension.

16. Inspect the front torque arm limiter strap for wear or damage, and replace if necessary.

17. Continue by inspecting the rail slides for wear. Replace if worn to the wear limit indicator groove.

18. Measure the track tension per the Owner’s Manual guidelines and adjust as necessary. Tension adjustments should only be made after the track has been warmed up.

19. Next, inspect the track for proper alignment by looking through the track windows in the rear. Ensure they are evenly spaced apart and adjust as necessary.

20. Continue by inspecting the rear idler wheel bolt and adjusting bolt locknuts for tightness.

21. Once finished with the rear suspension inspection, safely lower the vehicle to the ground.

22. Ensure smooth operation of the steering system by turning the skis from full left to full right.

23. Then slowly pull the recoil rope out and inspect the handle and rope for any excessive wear.

24. Ensure proper fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. A flashlight can be used to illuminate the reservoirs in dark areas.

25. Operate the brake lever, taking note of any binding or sticking, and ensure proper operation of the parking brake.

26. Then operate the throttle lever, taking note of any binding or sticking.

27. Start the engine and ensure there are no warning lights present.

28. Next, inspect the headlights, taillight and brake light for proper operation. The high beams may only work with throttle input on certain models.

29. Push the engine stop switch to stop the engine. Verify it does not restart.

30. Restart the engine and ensure the engine turns off when the ignition switch is turned off.

31. Finish the inspection by making sure there is enough fuel for your trip.
