To remove and install the Rear Upper A-Arm on your RZR Trail or Trail S, follow these steps:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface, ensure the vehicle is in PARK and remove the key.
2. Loosen the lug nuts with a 19mm socket with breaker bar while the vehicle is on the ground, but do not remove them at this time.
3. Safely elevate the vehicle. Reference your Owner’s Manual for proper lifting techniques.
4. Once safely elevated, remove the lug nuts and set aside.
5. Remove the wheel and set aside.
6. Remove and retain the fastener and washer retaining the stabilizer bar link to the upper control arm with a 15mm socket and wrench. Discard the nut.
7. Remove the upper fastener, washer and nut from the bearing carrier with a 15mm socket and wrench. Discard the nut. Tip: If you’re having trouble removing the fastener, remove the upper control arm mounting fastener first to help relieve tension.
8. Remove the fastener, washers and nut retaining the upper control arm to the frame with a 15mm socket and wrench. Discard the nut.
9. Remove the control arm from the vehicle.
10. Examine the control arm bushing and pivot tube for damage or wear and replace if needed.
11. If reusing, thoroughly clean the arm and pivot tube with a shop rag.
12. If replacing, new control arm bushings and a pivot tube will need to be installed.
13. Align the upper control arm with the mounting holes on the frame.
14. Reinstall the retained fastener from the rear of the vehicle with a washer and secure with a washer and new nut.
15. Align the control arm with the bearing carrier and reinstall the retained fastener from the rear of the vehicle and secure with a washer and new nut.
16. Align the stabilizer bar linkage with the upper control arm.
17. Reinstall the retained fastener and secure with a washer and new nut.
18. Torque the upper control arm fasteners to 40 ft-lbs (54 Nm) + one quarter turn.
19. Torque the bearing carrier fastener to 42 ft-lbs (57 Nm).
20. Torque the linkage fastener to 40 ft-lbs (54 Nm).
21. Reinstall the wheel on the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts until fully seated.
22. Safely lower the vehicle until the tires begin to touch the ground. This will help keep the wheel in place when torquing.
23. Once lowered, torque the lug nuts to specification in a crisscross pattern: steel wheels to 60 ft-lbs (81 Nm) and aluminum wheels to 120 ft-lbs (163 Nm).
24. Finally, lower the vehicle completely.
