This video goes over the installation of the Rhino-Rack® Large Roof Platform (part number 2889237 and part number 2889452).
Required Tools and Supplies
- 13mm Socket
- 13mm Crow Foot
- Ratchet
- Torque Tool (Included in Kit)
- Torque Wrench
- Safety Glasses
- Nitrile Gloves
- Shop Rags
For information on tools, read the Tools and Fasteners Guide. Always wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves when installing accessories on your Polaris XPEDITION.
Note that some items used in this video may not be applicable to all models and may not represent production parts.
To install the large Roof Rack on your Polaris XPEDITION XP 5, ADV or ADV 5, follow these steps:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface, ensure it is in PARK and remove the key.
2. Set the front and rear extrusion onto a soft surface with the shorter edge facing up.
3. Identify the left and right corner base pieces. The mounting hole will align with the edge of the platform extrusions. Also, ensure that the U-shaped groove is facing up.
4. Install the remaining corner base pieces.
5. Arrange the platform extrusions so they mirror each other.
6. Slide a side extrusion into each corner base with the mounting holes sliding under the platform extrusion.
7. Repeat this process for the remaining corner bases.
8. Align the mounting holes and loosely install eight of the provided longer fasteners into the side extrusions.
9. Position the planks under the frame assembly with the mounting holes facing up.
10. Align the mounting holes and loosely install four of the provided longer fasteners into the plank.
11. Repeat this process for the remaining planks.
12. Identify the left and right corner covers by comparing the mounting holes.
13. Align the mounting hole on the corner cover with the corner base, and loosely install one of the provided shorter fasteners.
14. Repeat this process for the remaining corner covers.
15. Attach the provided socket to the torque tool.
16. Ensure the corner base tabs are inserted into the side extrusion.
17. Torque all fasteners using the included torque tool until it clicks.
18. Align the underbar extrusions with the mounting holes on the underside of the planks.
19. Install twelve of the provided longer fasteners into each underbar.
20. Continue by torquing the underbar fasteners sequentially from one end and set the platform aside.
21. Remove the rear speakers with a T40 TORX®.
22. Remove and discard the five front most roof fasteners with a 13mm socket. Note: Do not remove spacers. Note: If the square nuts fall out of position, pull the outer edges of the roof liner downward and reposition in the ROPS retention feature.
23. With the product label at the front of the vehicle, align the roof rack backbone with the mounting holes on the roof.
24. Loosely install five of the provided washers, with the rubber side down, and longer fasteners into the backbone.
25. Repeat this process for the remaining backbone. Torque to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).
26. With the aid of the assistant, rest the platform on top of the backbones and align the mounting holes.
27. Loosely install five of the longer fasteners in through the top of the platform.
28. Repeat this process on the remaining side.
29. Torque the platform fasteners using the included torque tool until it clicks. Torque to 53 in-lbs (6 Nm).
30. With a 13mm crow foot, torque the backbone fasteners to 88 in-lbs (10 Nm).
31. Reinstall the rear speaker if previously removed. Torque to 53 in-lbs (6 Nm).
